For Illawarra Coal, bowel cancer is a condition that affects many of their community members yet does not receive enough attention. So, this Bowel Cancer Awareness Month they decided to do something about it.

The team at Illawarra Coal first approached Bowel Cancer Australia to hold some Get Your Rear in Gear presentations both onsite at their coal mines as well as at Head Office. During Bowel Cancer Awareness Month they organised health sessions, and offered health checks and provided a seminar on bowel cancer awareness and healthy lifestyles. The team also raised funds and awareness by selling Bowel Cancer Australia ribbons and by hosting a a morning tea on Red Apple Day.

Bowel Cancer Australia has received a $10,000 cheque thanks to Clubs NSW and one of their members, Tom Smalley.

Each year, Clubs NSW runs a People's Choice Competition to find the best registered club in New South Wales. By voting for their favourite registered club, members go into the draw to win a luxury holiday valued at $10,000, as well as $10,000 cash to go to their chosen charity. Over 23,000 votes were cast via Facebook, SMS, Instagram and the Your Local Club website.

A huge thanks to Tom Smalley and Clubs NSW for your generosity. Your donation will allow Bowel Cancer Australia to continue its work in helping to save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of people living with bowel cancer.
